Privacy Notice
We are pleased to welcome you to our website and would like to thank you for your interest in our company, our products, and our Web pages. The protection of your privacy while using our web pages is very important to us. Therefore we treat your personal data in accordance with the applicable legal regulations for personal data protection. In the following you will learn which web pages are governed by this declaration, which data we collect, process and use, which disclosure rights you have and much more. To answer your questions as quickly and clearly as possible we have laid out our data protection declaration in the form of questions and answers.
Which web pages are governed by this declaration?
This privacy notice declaration applies for the use of the web pages (hereinafter referred to as the “heristo web pages”) provided by heristo aktiengesellschaft and/or its subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as “heristo”) This data protection declaration does not apply to the web pages of other service operators which are simply linked to from the heristo web pages.
What are personal data?
Personal data are those entries concerning the personal or business affairs of a specific or specifiable natural person. These are, for instance, data related to your name, your address, your account, personal ID number or telephone number, your vehicle registration details, your e-mail address or IP-number. Non-personal data, however, are those data which could not lead to the discovery of your actual identity. These include, for instance, such information about which sex you are, which browser you use or which brand of automobile you prefer.
Will I remain anonymous when using the heristo Web pages?
Yes. When using the heristo Web pages you will remain anonymous as long as you do not voluntarily provide us with personal data. The only exception to this fundamental rule is the temporary automatic collection and saving of your IP-number. You can read more about this below.
Are personal data automatically collected and processed?
Yes. Every time you visit one of our web pages, we automatically collect information about which IP number was assigned to your computer, which browser and which operating system you use and which pages you viewed. These data are automatically saved in so-called logfiles on our webserver. In this case, only the IP number belongs to the personal data. To protect our computer systems against misuse, it is necessary to temporarily store the IP number of every visitor. If the logfiles are to be used for the creation of usage profiles, be this for advertising purposes, market research or re-configuration of our web pages, the IP-numbers are made anonymous beforehand. Otherwise, IP-numbers are deleted from the logfiles. As a result, despite the automatic collectiion and temporary saving of your IP-number, you still remain anonymous.
Under which other circumstances may personal data be collected, processed or used?
We will only then collect, process or use personal data if you provide us with the information voluntarily and it is furthermore legally permissible, or you have given us your consent. This usually happens when you enter into a contract with us or send us a request for information.
For what purposes may personal data be collected, processed or used?
The personal data that you provide is used exclusively for the purposes to which you agreed, in other words for the processing of our contract with you or to answer your questions.
Are personal data used for advertising or marketing purposes?
This is not done without your consent. For the sake of good customer relations there may occasionally be a requirement to use your personal data for advertising, marketing or other purposes. If this is the case, we will let you know in advance and ask for your express permission.
Are personal data passed on, sold or otherwise given to third parties?
There will be no passing on, sale or other transmission of your personal data to third parties, unless this is necessary for the purposes of carrying out a contract with you or you have expressly permitted it. For instance, when ordering products, it may be necessary for us to pass on your address and order data to our suppliers.
Can I withdraw my permission once it has been given?
Yes. You can, at any time, withdraw permission for the data, which you gave for an agreed specific purpose, to be used in the future. Please write to us at the address below.
Do the heristo Web pages use cookies?
We use so-called session cookies on the heristo Web pages that store data on the technical session control in the cache of your browser. These data are not personal data and will be deleted when you close your browser, at the latest. If, exceptionally, we want to save personal data in a cookie we will request your express permission in advance.
How can I stop cookies being saved on my computer?
Although cookies are only relevant (in terms of data protection) when personal data are stored in them, many internet users treat these files with a great deal of scepticism. We would therefore like to point out that you can block cookies yourself and/or view the content of cookies on your computer. Current browsers offer you various functions to this end, about which you can inform yourself by looking in the help section of your browser. You can, for example, set up your browser to block all cookies automatically or to ask your permission before saving a cookie. We would like to point out, however, that this may lead to reduced functionality in the use of the heristo web pages and web pages from other service providers.
What does heristo do for the security of my personal data?
heristo untertakes technical and organisational safety measures to protect your personal data from loss and misuse. To this end your data are saved in a secure operating environment, which is not accessible by the general public.
If you would like to contact heristo by e-mail, we would like to remind you that there is no guarantee of confidentiality for the transmitted information. The contents of e-mails – like with postcards – can be viewed by third parties. We therefore recommend that you send confidential information to us by post only.
Do I have a right of disclosure about stored personal data regarding myself?
Yes. On request we will let you know whether we have stored personal data about you and what those data are. Please, simply write to us at the address below.
Can I change my personal data and when will my data be deleted?

We would like to point out, however, that we may be legally required to keep data due to laws regarding safekeeping of records for accounting purposes. In this case, you have the right to block your data.
Does this declaration of Privacy Notice change occasionally?
The rapid technological development of the internet and changes in rights and laws regarding data protection will occasionally make it necessary for us to bring our data protection declaration into line with the new requirements.
